Welcome to the 'Friends of Valence School' Website. |
The Headteacher who was Mr Piggot came to the school in 1971.There has always been a Governing Body at valence but not much else in a way of a committee that is dedicated to fundraising for the school.
Early in 1970 a need for a Parent Staff Association came to the forefront of thinking. It was called the PSA that is because unlike most other schools it could not be called a Parent teacher Association(PTA) since there were many more members of staff at Valence and not just teachers.
In the late 1980s the PSA later became the 'Friends of Valence' committee. The headteacher was on the PSA in an advisory capacity. The chairman was always a parent.
The PSA fund-raised for particular projects. Below are just a few:
Long storage Sheds
The PSA always met on a Sunday evening from about 6pm to plan all the projects and activity for the next month, supported by a tea and cake trolley from the kitchen.
