Dear Friends and Neighbours,

 

Following the tremendous success of last year's event, which fully funded a long overdue project for our young people, we are once again intending to hold a Golf Day

at Westerham Golf Club

on Tuesday 29th June 2004

 

We would like to invite you to support us in any or all of the following ways:

1.       Enter as a team of 4, to play 27 holes of golf and/or

2.       Sponsor a hole and/or

3.       Offer a competition prize, a raffle prize or an auction item

 

The money we raise this year will support the complete refurbishment of the Hydrotherapy Pool and Changing Room.

 

Valence School is a Local Authority Maintained Special Boarding School for children and young people from 4yrs to 19yrs with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and associated communication, learning and social difficulties. Inevitably our funds are limited and the demands on them virtually limitless.

 

The Inland Revenue has informed us that we are entitled to claim tax relief on all money donated to us by taxpayers. To claim this we must tell them how the money you give us is allocated and get your confirmation that you are entitled to make a ‘Gift Aid’ contribution.

 

Each individual entry fee is £25 per person towards the cost of the meal and refreshments; the remainder is considered to be a donation. Other expenses for the day e.g. use of club facilities, entertainment and prizes will be paid for from money raised on the day. The entry form has been changed in order to meet Gift Aid rules. I hope you agree that this is a good idea, as it will enable us to claim an extra £11.28 per player.

 

We would be very grateful if you would extend this invitation to friends, neighbours, companies or businesses that you deal with. The Auction and Raffle are vital to our fund raising efforts so please persuade (pester) businesses and friends to provide high value items, days out, health suite/gym sessions or rounds of golf etc., we would be very grateful. Last year we auctioned time in holiday villas which attracted very high bids. If you know of people who would be prepared to donate their villas for a week or so please ask them or pass their details on to me so that I can write to them.
